Soil songs
(2024)
presented in  <It's Not That Far>, Het HEM, group exhibition (NL)

I stand at the border

Between The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany
Between South Korea and North Korea
Between Space A and Space X
Between you and me

On the Line and in the range,
Over the sharp wire fence, beyond the barbed wire,
I see the forest,
I see the scattering soil,
I see the flowing water

And I listen to the sounds :

Giggling,
Laughing,
Crying,
Howling,

And
Screaming

They hover in the air,
Reach into space X eventually,

And will travel again

Tragedy over the sea flows into my heart,
My heart is beating, bleeding, filled with the world’s screams

I am not , you are not, we are not safe

The flams on the other side of the world exist right here.
In the air I breathe

Each cone of soil comes from a different location or country.
When one cone is destroyed, it is replaced by the next cone, which is then played.
Depending on the soil's origin, composition, density, and dryness, each cone produces a unique soil song.
